Dr. Kendall-Tackett is a health psychologist, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, and a specialist in mind-body medicine. She is a Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Texas Tech University School of Medicine in Amarillo, Texas. Dr. Kendall-Tackett is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association in both the Divisions of Health and Trauma Psychology. She is Associate Editor of the journal Psychological Trauma, and Editor-in-Chief of Clinical Lactation. Dr. Kendall-Tackett is author of more than 280 journal articles, book chapters and other publications, and author or editor of 20 books in the fields of trauma, women’s health, depression, and breastfeeding, including Depression in New Mothers, 2nd Edition (2010, Taylor & Francis), The Psychoneuroimmunology of Chronic Disease (2010, American Psychological Assn), Non-Pharmacologic Treatments for Depression in New Mothers (2008, Hale Publishing), and Breastfeeding Made Simple, (coauthored with Nancy Mohrbacher). She is a founding officer of the American Psychological Association’s Division of Trauma Psychology, and is currently serving her second term as Division Secretary.
Dr. Kendall-Tackett received a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in psychology from California State University, Chico, and a Ph.D. from Brandeis University in social and developmental psychology. She has won several awards including the Outstanding Research Study Award from the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children, and was named 2003 Distinguished Alumna, College of Behavioral and Social Sciences, California State University, Chico. Educational Objectives After this conference attendees will be able to:
- Identify the long-term effects of child abuse, and describe how past abuse may present in a breastfeeding woman.
- Discern the multiple causes of poor sleep and their implications for breastfeeding.
- List practical steps providers can take to address maternal fatigue.
- Describe the effects of touch on infant feeding behavior, growth and health.
- List conventional and alternative treatments for depression and how these impact breastfeeding.
Educational Credits: A total of 6.75 contact hours have been applied for through the following organizations: GNA, IBLCE & ADA. You will receive your certificates at the end of the conference.

The technical nature of this conference requires participant and speaker concentration. Attendance is therefore limited to adults and quiet infants and young children. If you are bringing your child into sessions, please attend immediately to any situation that may distract others, including happy noises. Please bring only quiet toys for your child. Consider sitting near the rear exit so that you can take your child out if they become noisy and are distracting other participants. You and your child may return to the session when quiet. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Refund Requests/Substitutions:
All refund requests must be in writing and postmarked no later than 3/16/12. Refunds will be given less a $25 handling charge. There will be a $5.00 charge for participant substitutions. The following items must be presented at the registration table:
1) A written request from the registered participant or a copy of their online registration confirmation email 2) A completed registration form for the new participant 3) $5.00 substitution fee (cash or check payable to NW GA Breastfeeding Coalition)
If applicable, educational credit certificates will be mailed to the new participant after the conference.
